The buckle for this quarter is called 'MARTIS', named and inspired by a lady called Stephanie Martis. I met Stephanie at my first product launch in Glasgow at The Corinthian Club in 2015, through mutual friends. Out of 2000 guests at this launch I was pulled into a small group of people. I made some sort of sarcastic comment, really dry. Nobody got it except her. She laughed, and I noticed, thats where our friendship began. Months, years later, I learned about turning into a 'character' from Stephanie, without her knowing it. Let me explain how.
Stephanie is a professional dancer, she's enrolled with a double life. When she gets on stage to perform, she turns into a character. She is non recognisable to me. She has a professional side that I hardly see. Then, when she walks off stage, meets you at the bar afterwards for a drink, she's back to Steph, Stephanie, or how I call her 'MARTIS'. It's #DUPLICITY.
Martis, (Stephanie), and I hang out and chat a lot. She is a refreshingly honest reminder of what the path to success really looks like. It's messy, perilous, and chaotic journey riddled with mistakes, endless struggles, and sacrifice. Martis was the first person to open up to me explaining the real road, the whole process, to have a role of dance in any show of performance. She spoke to me about the hardships on this journey were not many are willing to do, and why its important to turn into a professional character when she dances, because you have to be able to forget about it, good or bad, once you take your dance shoes off, you leave it all on stage. Stephanie is incredibly tough on herself and her failings, she's so honest about the nature of her success... it's an amazing tale the Martis backstory. It's real.
